1. Train visual thinking, visualize a chess board and try to move the pieces. Visualize what is inside objects around you like inside a car or computer.
2. Train spatial thinking, put yourself into unknown complex buildings that you have to traverse through. Visualize schematic abstract images with relationships and transformation, nothing else to save computational power. Stay confident in your ability to be able to traverse or find the way back. If you get lost brute force it and map it out while you do so.
3. Train systematic thinking, think of the schemas and logic in the systems all around you. Think of the embedded things and where it leads.
4. Stay away from having your dominant thinking as process thinking or internal monologue thinking, these types are important but become unhealthy, disorganized and even partly schizophrenic if you use them dominantly or exclusively.

fyi, IIFYM means if your goals in terms of fats, carbs and proteins are met, what you eat doesnt matter. so lets say you eat fish, nuts, vegetables and potatos. in IIFYM philosophy, that would be the same as eating burgers from mcdonalds (in both cases we assume the macro goals are met. lets also assume calories are the same)

Probably over time you would get used to that base level focus again, but it's something that I wouldn't do because the music addiction isn't as bad as people make it out to be, and you get nice side benefits such as the improved focus, you will probably develop a better musical taste, you have something that always gets you calmed or relaxed if you are stressed which doesn't involve taking pills that destroys your body, and you will have the motivation to pick up a musical instrument which is always great. The noticeably bad things that could happen with a music addiction is that you'd probably use headphones all day and over time and also you would start to crank up the volume more which can either damage your ears severely in the long run or turn you deaf (rip Beethoven).

/mu/ is my homeboard and for me and a lot of other people there, we can't even multitask with music. If I put on any music I enjoy then I literally autistically have to just stop whatever I'm doing, close all my application tabs and windows, stop looking at my monitor, and usually end up facing a wall or ceiling in a pitch black room with my eyes closed.

I just end up focusing 100% on the music with all other senses deprived (if I like it; otherwise I just turn it off). I can't put anything on as "background noise" or to help me focus. If I try to look for something, I inevitably skip through a million things just finding it all too boring and lackluster, and if I come across some minimal techno or something I actually like, then I usually find I can't concentrate on anything else due to the continuous euphoria and I just focus on nothing but the music.

It's really hard for me to find that balance between something that's not engaging enough to distract me and not so boring/bad that it bothers me and makes me wish I was listening to something better. I've just gotten extremely picky after listening to hundreds of albums over the past few years.
