What does it mean to be good at math? I've heard it said that you don't understand theorems and results, you just get used to them. Should a good mathematician be able to quickly derive every result he knows and uses, or is it hopeless to try to review derivations of equations you use that you struggle to remember? Is math skill purely your ability to organize your brain and think of possible solution methods?

To be good at math means to flood the board with low effort posts.

You need to star with the standard results of the field [math]\mathbb{R}[/math], the with theorems of the ordered field [math]\mathbb{R}[/math] and the results of the normed field [math]\mathbb{C}[/math] and the number-theoretic results for the embedded [math]\mathbb{Z}[/math] and [math]\mathbb{Q}[/math] in either real or complex number system. After this you cant start proving the standard results of naive set theory and linear algebra and with the elements of real anaylisis then, your understanding will skyrocket.

You need to start with the standard results of the field [math]\mathbb{R}[/math], then with theorems of the ordered field [math]\mathbb{R}[/math] and the basic theorems of the normed field [math]\mathbb{C}[/math] and the number-theoretic results for the embedded [math]\mathbb{Z}[/math] and [math]\mathbb{Q}[/math] in either real or complex number system. After this you can start proving the standard results of naive set theory and linear algebra, and with the elements of real analysis then, your understanding will skyrocket.

Having high scores on math tests is a good starting point

It's about understanding the rules rather than solving through memorisation like a monkey doing tricks
