Does a explosion, (witch shock-wave travels faster as the speed of sound, or else it wouldn't be define as such, distributing the medium during it travels), make a sound in space?

We can detect gravity waves traveling through space because space has minute amount of particles that act like medium. Sound wave can thus travel through space since they're basically the same wave motion. Soon as the sound wave makes contact with a large object the sound propagate. Soon, not later. The farther the distance, the more sound waves will dissipate. So if there was an explosion 5 meters from the ISS, people inside ISS will hear the explosion.
