Honestly I think it started with race. Up until WW2 race was real, after WW2 communists (leftists) were pro science to undermine religion and pro nuclear during the arms race and cold war. They wanted a way to get a class war going in the capitalist west, black proletariat vs white bourgeoisie looked like a good option but they'd have to convince everyone (esp blacks) that segregation and disparate IQ numbers were racist and not just people evolving differently.
Blank slaters and lackeys started appearing not too long after WW2.

This has been going on in the art world for over a decade now, I was wondering when it would spread. If a theory works or is "True" then:
1. Why so much credit to the author? He or she didn't MAKE the reality. It is like giving credit to the mail carrier for the contents of your mail.
2. What difference does their life make or their other opinions to the validity and usefulness of the theory? Being right once doesn't change all the times you are wrong.

So why are there any displays of the lives of scientists whatsoever? Sounds like a bunch of bullshit to get the emotional or instinctual minds interested in thinking.
If the lives of the authors of scientific theories is not propaganda, it sure looks like a vector of its introduction.

Yeah, its a fucking museum, thats what it is there forI think it is useful and interesting to show the specimens that led to the development of modern theories, but thats all besides the point.

No one in that article is saying we should not investigate the history of science in museums, they are saying it is offensive to have specimens that were collected on boats captained by colonialists, or that depictions of crops that were associated with slave economies in any way is offensive

leftist is the proper term for this case, mainstream liberal democrats aren't worried by this shit and are actively being alienated, this is far left quackery

Yes Americans often conflate liberal with far left as both the right and the far left constantly play up that conflation to their advantage (like its lefties trying to portray Scandanavia as a communist utopia just as often as it is right wing people pointing at Cuba and Venezuela, actual leftist places to attack moderate liberals). Cultures evolve over time, most of the cultures weak enough to be killed would have been killed by their immediate neighbors soon enough anyways, for this most part historical cultures fucking sucked, we choose to remember the best parts and rightfully lament some of those losses, but pretty much everything everywhere was fucking terrible always we just choose to forget the bad stuff

serious problem but we will get by, certainly worth the benefits we have reaped so far and we are doing a lot to combat it, human ingenuity will certainly persist
>and overpopulation will hit us hard soon
This is nonsense, people have been saying overpopulation was imminent for like 250 years, in which time the world population has increased like 10x and people have more food and resources than ever before. Human technology has been shown to consistently outpace overpopulation concerns, and as more and more of the world becomes affluent birth rates are bound to fall dramatically, I think most predictions have the world population peaking in our lifetime

pro-tip: it hasn't. epigenetics are a modulation layer on top of genetics. but they are very much controlled by genetics themselves. for instance methylation can only occur on cytosines and adenines so the degree to which a sequence can be methylated depends on that. secondly supposing a promoter region is methylated the same amount of methylation will change the overall transcription rate differently when the base rate differs. so no epigenetics has not redeemed lysenko at all.

Now that christianity is irrelevant, they no longer need to pretend to care about evolution, and they can revert to their lysenkoism, while you become the new christians.

Leftists are critical debaters.
Their strategies revolve around focusing debates purely on internal inconsistencies in opposing positions, rather than on contrasting their own position with the opposing position.
This creates an issue where a 99% consistent set of positions can be discarded because of the 1% inconsistency, and replaced with a 0% consistent position, because no comparison between positions was ever made.
Notice that almost all leftist literature is a "critique" of something, never a comparison between things, or a proposal for how to achieve something.

Politics is inherently "anti-science" as the truth without context is threatening to any political ruler. Therefore the political factions of the time select truths that benefit them and try to subvert truths that may hinder their success. This has been true since the first civilizations existed. In general humans are no more pro science than they were 6000 years ago, only thing that has changed is the level of rigour applied to science (in most cases). If you want proof of this look at what american politics has become, it's very data driven, but all of these studies are chartered and given to political think tanks by polarized political operators, with the knowledge the the think tank will come to the conclusion that helps their agenda. I don't have sauce but there was a study done on PTSD by the army, it turns out that a lot of suicides and PTSD are caused by actual physical damage to the brain from shockwaves moving through it (IEDs). When the army found it may be on the hook to pay out disability to thousands of soldiers who turned out to have physical brain damage from active duty, they suspended the study. This is just an example of agenda opposing truth. There is no political party of science.

>There is no political party of science
Pretty much this.

Left-wing parties like to masquerade as being the party of science, but that's more because academics lean left.
I think that academia is in a really bad state in the west just because it's become politicized, and academics will self-censor, or censor each other. At this point, studies are only credible if you agree with them.

The worst thing about politics is that it's responsible for most of the problems with education. The U.S. can't fix its public education because the teacher's unions have deep ties to the Democratic party.
I honestly wonder if it's just a product of democratic politics. Seeing how a monarchy or dictatorship would handle things would be interesting. Most cases would probably end up like China, though.

journos have also always been notoriously bad at reporting science. there so many instances of this, like for example when they nicknamed the higgs boson the "god particle" because some tone deaf autist misinterpreted some book, and fuck me it sticked. now everyone feels like they desperately need to gouge their eyes out whenever they read it.

You're seeing everything in simplistic black and white terms. Many on the left are very pro-nuclear - George Monbiot for example. Furthermore the reason he changed his stance from neutral to pro-nuclear was Fukushima, reasoning (quite rightly) "A crappy old plant with inadequate safety features was hit by a monster earthquake and a vast tsunami.[…] Yet, as far as we know no one has yet received a lethal dose of radiation." (since revised to 1 death). That is not the reaction of someone who is anti-science despite being on the left.

I think the real risk of the lockdowns is that they exasperate other physical and mental issues.
Being discouraged from meeting with people leaves people isolated and alone, which is a big cause of depression. Young people in particular suffered from a lack of genuine interaction as-is, and being forced to talk to people online makes that worse.
Physical health will also suffer. Since most gyms are closed, people generally can't work out as much. That said, they are allowed to walk and run, so physical problems aren't as bad as mental ones (though they will obviously interact with each other)

Plus, the coronavirus isn't going to be eradicated. It'll eventually become manageable, but it can adapt and evolve.

Wearing masks and not sneezing at people is really not a problem, though I agree that public meetups seems beneficial for mental health. True. Tourism doesn't really affect peoples' health (outside of the risk of spreading disease), since it's really just a luxury.

because communism always assumes that nurture wins over nature
only someone that assumes nurture triumphs over nature can argue that gender is a construct and that by merely acting and dressing as the other gender you do become so
the very act of declaring that you can change gender at will is a triumph over nature
it's anti science in nature

it's not much different with Nazi Germany, Ubermenschen triumphing over nature

Liberalism on the other hand is the opposite, it assumes that man had to flee from nature and bring forth a slave manifestation of nature (technology) that it could use against it. It doesn't stop there because the robot want's to come alive and the only way to do that is by robbing people of their humanity (the robot needs a soul). This is what nature has done originally and thus people declared nature evil with the advent of the Age of Enlightenment.

This is typical what a slave does when it revolts, it doesn't look for freedom but for a new master and it destroys his master with his slave morality. All those psychological problems and all that pollution that are amassing in the western world serves the robot.

The picture is more the topic of historical revisionism rather than anti-science.

The left and the right both have certain bodies of science they tend to ignore or outright reject.

Righties typically have problems with climate science, the genetics and biology of sex and gender, and the neuroscience of mental health and mental illnesses. More recently, righties have decided that pathology and germ theory is also not for them.

Lefties typically have problems with energy (e.g., nuclear energy), agricultural science (e.g., GMOs vs organic), and health science in general (see hippies and their healing crystals).

Of course, there are groups in both camps that do better or worse than their peers, but those are some of the big ones I've noticed. In my *personal* opinion, righties tend to be bigger offenders of science than lefties in that they deny more overall, are more entrenched in their ignorance, and reject bodies of science that are of greater consequence to society. That is NOT to say left-wing science denial is inconsequential, just slightly less of a problem. But again, this is my opinion, not a quantified fact.

Sex differences in human neonatal social perception

Sexual dimorphism in sociability has been documented in humans. The present study aimed to ascertain whether the sexual dimorphism is a result of biological or socio-cultural differences between the two sexes. 102 human neonates, who by definition have not yet been influenced by social and cultural factors, were tested to see if there was a difference in looking time at a face (social object) and a mobile (physical-mechanical object). Results showed that the male infants showed a stronger interest in the physical-mechanical mobile while the female infants showed a stronger interest in the face. The results of this research clearly demonstrate that sex differences are in part biological in origin.

Experience-independent sex differences in newborn macaques: Females are more social than males

Human females exhibit greater social interest and skills relative to males, appearing in infancy, suggesting biological roots; however, male and female infants may be treated differently, potentially causing or amplifying sex differences. Here, we tested whether sex differences in social motivation emerge in infant monkeys (n=48) reared in a controlled postnatal environment. Compared to males, females at 2–3 weeks looked more at conspecifics’ faces (d=0.65), especially the eyes (d=1.09) and at 4–5 weeks exhibited more affiliative behaviors (d=0.64), including gesturing, looking and proximity to familiar and unfamiliar human caretakers. In sum, converging evidence from humans and monkeys suggests that female infants are more social than males in the first weeks of life and that such differences may arise independent of postnatal experience. Individual differences in social interest have wide-ranging developmental consequences, impacting infants’ social interaction quality and opportunities for learning. Understanding the evolution of sex differences and their developmental emergence is necessary to best support infants with varying levels of sociality.

Sex differences in children's toy preferences: A systematic review, meta‐regression, and meta‐analysis

From an early age, most children choose to play with toys typed to their own gender. In order to identify variables that predict toy preference, we conducted a meta‐analysis of observational studies of the free selection of toys by boys and girls aged between 1 and 8 years. From an initial pool of 1788 papers, 16 studies (787 boys and 813 girls) met our inclusion criteria. We found that boys played with male‐typed toys more than girls did (Cohen's d = 1.03, p < .0001) and girls played with female‐typed toys more than boys did (Cohen's d = −0.91, p < .0001). Meta‐regression showed no significant effect of presence of an adult, study context, geographical location of the study, publication date, child's age, or the inclusion of gender‐neutral toys... Findings are discussed in terms of possible contributions of environmental influences and age‐related changes in boys' and girls' toy preferences. Despite methodological variation in the choice and number of toys offered, context of testing, and age of child, the consistency in finding sex differences in children's preferences for toys typed to their own gender indicates the strength of this phenomenon and the likelihood that has a biological origin.

Sex differences in chimpanzees' use of sticks as play objects resemble those of children

Sex differences in children's toy play are robust and similar across cultures 1, 2. They include girls tending to play more with dolls and boys more with wheeled toys and pretend weaponry. This pattern is explained by socialization by elders and peers, male rejection of opposite-sex behavior and innate sex differences in activity preferences that are facilitated by specific toys [1]. Evidence for biological factors is controversial but mounting. For instance, girls who have been exposed to high fetal androgen levels are known to make relatively masculine toy choices [3]. Also, when presented with sex-stereotyped human toys, captive female monkeys play more with typically feminine toys, whereas male monkeys play more with masculine toys [1]. In human and nonhuman primates, juvenile females demonstrate a greater interest in infants, and males in rough-and-tumble play. This sex difference in activity preferences parallels adult behavior and may contribute to differences in toy play [1]. Here, we present the first evidence of sex differences in use of play objects in a wild primate, in chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes). We find that juveniles tend to carry sticks in a manner suggestive of rudimentary doll play and, as in children and captive monkeys, this behavior is more common in females than in males.

Leftism is inherently destructive. It rebels against established traditions and authority structures and tries to tear them down.
Modern leftists are a victim of their own success. The liberal agenda was almost completely achieved by the 70s. What do you think happens when the massive political machinery of a powerful faction achieves complete success? They just dismantle it all and go home? No, they look for new targets.

I'm not accountable for your lack of reading comprehension or any drafts that may be in your apartment.
One thing I want you to notice is how my post contained a substantive premise, while your post is completely devoid of even good faith, much less an actual argument.
Ironically, a pattern I've noticed is that your style of post is much more likely to be employed by actual midwits than the opposite.
The defining characteristic of a midwit is his smug sense of intellectual superiority despite lacking any sort of ability or accomplishments. This sense of his superiority can be protected by refusing to engage in dialogue with others and instead casually dismissing or insulting them. By refusing to engage seriously, you can remain content with a magical omniscience that is never disproven because never tested.

To anyone out here that still cares about the quality of the posts on this board, remember to apply the I.H.R technique on these threads:
>identify /pol/ threads
>hide /pol/ threads
>report /pol/ threads

For the /sci/ oldfags:
Identifying these bait threads is pretty easy, with just reading the title and the content you can rapidly infer what actual discussion do they want to have and what narrative do they want to push. Do not waste time on arguing, either hide and report or shitpost it into oblivion. We must stop playing naïve; it is not "IQ thread", it is "we want to shit on niggers"; it is not "Climate change", it is "I want to speak pseudoscience". It is obviously common that these threads will relate to some political discussion (mainly those related to sex and race). Again, we are not /pol/ #2, this board should be math and science discussion, not whether or not you think masks are useful based on your dogma. Recognizing these threads and understanding that they are not science is the first step into solving this problem.

For the /pol/acks:
>inb4 boogeyman
You will answer that no matter how many times someone points that out; you will always say it in order to deflect obvious truth: that the post was done without the intention to discuss scientific inquiry and that it aims to uphold racism. Being here, it is not our duty to be against racism, but it is also not our duty to support it, much less dedicate 300 daily bait threads per week.
