Most rail lines did go to ports, which is always very relevant to any economy, but those ports were and remained big urban centers, and those lines linked them with other big urban centers, cause that's where the colonizers lived and that's where africans live now.

No one has introduced a space mission that offers material benefit to a nation or people. While a few african nations do have space programs and successful missions, I would argue these were a complete waste of resources for the africans. If anything the comtinent of africa should be dedicated to societal research. If scientists find away to solve the social problems faced by africans, that information would be invaluable to every nation in the world, who has much more satiable populations.
