90% of the actual mathematics and science discussion that happens in /sci/ is homework or bait.

Idk what you are expecting. Some haven on an obscure internet board where everyone is highly intelligent and posts thoughtful respectful discussion? Where everyone is a postdoc researcher? Even though the rest of the site is devoted to shitposting and attracts social losers looking for anonymous attention? This is not a science or math board. Not anymore at the least, and desu I don't think it ever really was. This is a board to shitpost and (You) bait, sometimes about science and math.

Then why do they ban homework posts anon? Seems a little excessive, instead of banning them why not transfer them to the stupid questions general, Jannie's don't have enough work, eh, banning is easier and more fun

Except for the 0.999 threads I'm only seeing high quality math discussion here. Saw some posts about spectral graph theory and about K-theory yesterday, so I'm fine with that.

From the rules:
>Reminder: /sci/ is for discussing topics pertaining to science and mathematics, not for helping you with your homework or helping you figure out your career path.
Let's see...
>Reminder: /sci/ is for discussing topics pertaining to science and mathematics
Even something only tangentially related to science does in fact pertain to science and math. This is why unscientific posts that say "scientifically speaking" are allowed to stay up (usually).
>not for helping you with your homework
Homework posts are explicitly stated, so of course jannies will ban them. And yeah, it's easier and more fun.
>or helping you figure out your career path.
These threads stay up for some reason, I wouldn't know why.

>spoonfeed me on K-theory
>spoonfeed me on spectral graph theory
That falls in the "generalized homework" category.

This is just stupid, they allow stupid reposts of the same questions everyday which encourage low quality answers, which are against the rules btw. But can't stand homework questions which actually encourage high quality discussion. Who made these stupid rules?

moot, probably.
Also possible that it was some random moderator.
