It's 90 percent mental circlejerking, but the 10 percent that is legit is pretty important. Start with Plato, then hit Aristotle. Next hit up Descartes Cogito and Kants critiques. Basically everything after Kant is people dealing with Kant. Philosophy of science can be helpful too.
