What does retrospective analysis means? Just that they analyzed data of cases that in that time weren't part of a controlled experiment? If so, that should not be trusted. Able to pay for more miracle cures = having more money = able to pay for better actual medical care = better survival rate. By that logic you could make a study to prove that homeopathy or scientology also make you survive COVID.

Which age column is more telling for you, the mean/SD/median one or the n over/under 65 one? I'm trying to figure it out and what I'm seeing is that because more people under 65 (and thus I the lower risk age groups) had the HCQ treatments it's skewing the data to make it seem more effective than it actually is. Plus as >>11946288 said with the steroid and other treatments to consider. Also, the number of patients on each treatment isn't as equal, even though I know they don't have to be identical to give significant results.

Thanks, it was definitely a good discussion and helped clear things up for me. It's been shit to see lots of non-randomized studies come out and get latched onto as proof for/against the treatment. But I'm pretty certain once enough RCTs get done we'll know what works and what doesn't. I'm holding out for a vaccine though.

It was literally discussed in this thread. The group that didn't received HCQ was on average much older. The HCQ group also received steroids, which have proven efficacy when battling pneumonia. How is that a fair comparison? More well controlled studies have shown little to no benefit from HCQ, and potential major drawbacks.
