These things are complicated and the simplest answer I can give without the really going into the not perfectly categorized knowledge on what we know about the brain, I’ll give you this.

Consciousness is just patterns.
Our consciousness and awareness isn’t different from animals.
And ultimately in a sense bacteria and etc.
It’s just a 1=1 neural connection. Ultimately arbitrary and meaningless.
We just have a lot of them.

I don't know, I'm not a Burger. They also use the bullshit term of "Hispanic", which nobody in Latin America uses, because it's a nonsense made-up word. You might be overthinking it. Awareness is probably a spectrum and simply a temporary sum of all the electro-chemical activity going on in the cerebral cortex (which is capable of planning ahead therefore it requires ongoing conceptual and creative reference points) at any one moment.
