real statistics is the pinnacle of autism. I've never seen a field that makes simple concepts so convoluted through notation and terminology. props to the 5 people who do it rigorously, I definitely can't

complexity is not an indication of autism. Notation in general relativity is simple, but also super intuitive and useful. Statisticians are applied math people. To them notation doesn't mean much except to keep track of material objects. These are the people incapable of undergrad abstract algebra. They think they're smart, they fail, they cope by making their notation look smart by looking difficult. That's what dumb people do.

No one takes them seriously and that is the actual problem with science today and the reason why 99% of scientific "studies" are complete bullshit that don't mean anything. I don't think I've EVER seen a scientific paper in biology or medicine try to validate their statistical methods, literally maybe 1 or 2. No checking of any assumptions, blanket use of the exact same techniques in every scenario without a real understanding of why or how.
