It can't be transferred for the simple reason that it doesn't have any content. You can transfer memories and perhaps even personality traits. These are things with "content". Consciousness doesn't contain any information. That's ultimately what makes it so strange.

The brain requires energy to produce consciousness. Molecular energy is information about the universe. Therefore, consciousness contains information about the molecular universe which created it in the form of energy which was transformed and released through chemical bonds forming and breaking.

You're using the word "information" in the way it is used in physics. But you can't duplicate that. At best you can simulate it, but only with a lot of loss of information. And even then, it's not the same thing. It's something else. It cant be copied with 100% fidelity. As that's inherently a nonsense notion.

I'm doing it right now. With every breath I take energy transforms my internal environment chemically, and the information within my being has changed. Information isn't lost, its transferred from atom to atom in the form. My cells regularly duplicate the information they have coded into themselves, each holding a nearly absolutely perfect of each other. Within they have the molecular instructions and machinery to create the conditions of waking consciousness, and my restful sleep and dreams.
