/sci/ I see some crackpot conspiracy theory that says Mars was obliterated by nuclear explosions in the past, and that there is real scientific evidence to support this.

There is evidence that Mars may have been habitable for life in the past, for sure...

So, what does /sci/ think, is there any credibility to the Mars got nuked theory?? Could it have wiped out the life there?

no

That can be explained by the fact Xenon 129 is pretty much an array of numbers.

>> No.11837320

It's most likely that the elevated xenon-129 levels are from a number of natural nuclear reactions, although even this would have been an exceptionally rare event, either way it's cool.

The evidence is interesting. But there is also a conflicting theory that a giant fucking lightning bolt did it. Both have convincing evidence. I doubt both are correct though.

Why are you so concerned about this? We can barely take care of Earth...

Dude, didn't you read that article? It completely explains there are 2.6 times more Xe 129 than on post-nuclear tests Earth. It's just a silly conspiracy theory, come on. Maybe it was due to two Iodine 129 asteroids colliding in Mars atmosphere or a naturally occurring flying nuclear reactor that operated via capture instead of moderation. This stuff happens pretty much everywhere, it's nothing.
