Because Ol'Musky provides goods & services that the general public (or at least the part of the public that can afford luxury cars anyways) wants (Tesla is eating the luxury market in the US), large corporations want (see the various companies buying launch services) and that the government wants - both directly, like purchasing launch services, or those tunnels the Boring Company is building in Las Vegas, or indirectly, like the tax credits Tesla purchasers used to get; the government wanting people to buy electric cars in that case. Starlink will add millions of rural Americans to that group too, once it is fully up. Good luck convincing all those groups that Mr. Musk shouldn't have his companies using resources to provide those things.

Unless you can recharge or battery swap a Tesla truck in under half an hour at rural truck stops, or do 5000 miles on a single charge, it's not competitive with diesel for long haul routes. If the sedans can get up to 500 miles on a charge (Model S is already 80% there) then we're looking at the correct levels of battery density.
