I keep seeing total deaths projected to August. But the CDC and Dr. Fauci are saying the virus will not go away till we have had 60% of the population infected. So far we are at 5% and 100,000 people have died.

Does that mean we are at the very beginning of watching 1,200,000 Americans die of Covid?

You misunderstood, we need at least 90% for proper herd immunity. But the problem with this in particular is that coronavirus has a short half life in the immune system so we don't know how long immunity lasts. Other comparable coronaviruses only have a couple months. It's why the Sweden experiment failed.

Please dont do this, for the boards sake, for your sake. You started a scientific discussion based solely on unsourced 2nd hand knowledge. In college one of the first things you learn is what constitutes a good source and to always check sources and cite your own when authoring something. Bad/incomplete information is rampant problem with millenials and zoomers. Someone tells you something and you immediately take it as fact. Also citing tv, social media, news articles, youtube, etc is widely looked down on as those things quite often have zero interest in citing their own sources. Didnt anyone in your generation play the telephone game as a kid? People make mistakes, lie, forget details aka we're prone to err, so check multiple sources.

Yeah, didn’t you get what flattening the curve is about? It’s not preventing the spread, it’s about slowing the spread so that a surge in the number of cases doesn’t overwhelm the hospitals.

‘Slowing’ being the operative word, it’ll take months to years for the spread to finish instead of peaking short term. We can’t actually prevent the spread so that’s the trade off, the best we can do is slow it enough that there’s hospital and ventilator capacity for everyone who needs it. That brings the death rate down to 2-3% from 5%, not a huge difference in the number of deaths overall but it’s way better survival odds.

Got that by accident. Sure, she was immunocompromised, but still, why make her suffer? This is not helping your argument at all. Feel free to search around for other cases of clean people without any medical conditions prior to getting it.

>Strokes WITH covid are not strokes because of covid you smooth brained child.
Sure, if we compare baseline stroke cases before and after covid, the increase is surely just a coincidence.

How about this: actually go out sometimes and get to know people who work in hospitals. I know a few nurses and doctors. Trey will readily tell you about lung scans of young patients and kidney failure in previously healthy patients. Less well-known but actually also less rare is inflammation of the heart. Nobody in the main stream talks about this. It's been what I worried about most since all the way back in February when it was revealed that a shitload of people in China had heart issues after just mild cases, and now we know it's basically "spin the wheel of permanent organ damage!".
A recent Nature Medicine article (Long, Q 2020) suggests immunity to covid-19 begins to drop off sharply after recovery. An average reduction of IgG levels of ~70% was seen after only eight weeks.
