I have schizophrenia. How do I make the voices in my head stop?

>> No.11808440

You don't. You would be unable to distinguish hallucinations from reality if you had schizophrenia. I don't know what you wished to accomplish from this post. I'm growing tired of 4chan.

If you really do experience psychosis-- anti-psychotics are currently and unfortunately, the only available treatment for preventing it. The only thing I can recommend is to stay away from Geodon. I have been prescribed it before, and it has the worst side effects of any of them. Don't believe people on this website saying that psychotropic medication is some sort of Jewish conspiracy and that drinking water and taking magnesium is the cure for mental ailments. They only have this perception because they don't have any issue themselves.

voices in your head isn't schizo, congratulations, you now have an inner voice, it is yours to control, but if it is new you may find it too exciting to switch off, meditate on the sound ohmmmmm, do not let a thought penetrate that sound in your mind, the tricky parts on switching breaths, if a thought comes, let it pass to the ohmmm

same, i think many people get talked into schizophrenia by psychiatrists. they should abandon the field and let neuroscience grow, at least they aren't making any preposterous claims about what's going on in other people's heads as though they're able to experience it themselves

Not true. You can take your medicine and there are forms of schizophrenia where you can know the voices aren’t real or sometimes think they are real sometimes know they aren’t. Mental diseases vary very much so I wouldn’t try to put them into once box

As >>11808964 said, there's a lot of variability. Not all schizophrenics are 100% deluded by everything they perceive.

>>11808473
>Don't believe people on this website saying that psychotropic medication is some sort of Jewish conspiracy and that drinking water and taking magnesium is the cure for mental ailments. They only have this perception because they don't have any issue themselves.
Or because they have a psychotic condition themselves.

>>11809060
What percentage of schizophrenics really become totally non-functional like that? I feel like it's not as common as you're suggesting. OP seems coherent enough at the moment that I think it's unlikely they'd end up homeless. Though obviously I can't predict their prognosis.

>>11808891
I don't think long inner monologues would ever cause any psychiatrist to come up with that diagnosis. I think it's more things like clear delusions (thinking you're God or that the government is mind controlling you), paranoia (people following you everywhere you go; obviously this is theoretically possible but extremely unlikely if you're otherwise an ordinary person), and the voices feeling like they're totally external to you and not originating from you, and especially externally-sourced voices that are telling you negative things or suggesting/instructing you to do harmful things.

No psychiatrist is gonna consider you psychotic just because you have a deep inner world. At worst maybe they'd classify you with schizoid personality disorder or something, but that's very different from schizophrenia.

>> No.11809264

>>11809180
>clear delusions

You do realize that by this metric you would diagnose a majority of most populations right? In fact, the only reason psychiatry is generally accepted is because this doesn't happen. If we were to apply the DSM-V to entire populations it would automatically invalidate itself

Never heard anyone refer to their 'inner voice' before. Is this pseudoscience or some /x/ shit? I always refer to myself in my head as "we better go make some dinner now mate" and have lengthy conversations with myself in my head. Is that abnormal?

I sometimes find it hard to control my thoughts, sometimes my mind will form a mind of its own and will go down train of thought I never inteded or wanted to go along. Sometimes I'm getting mocked by my thoughts, told that I'm a worthless annoying piece of shit that nobody likes, though I know this isn't true. Don't think it's anything psychotic though, probably just strong social anxiety.

>mental disorders vary
Just wrong everybody has some amount of wishful thinking that he deludes himself into at times. If you can tell apart your imaginations from reality almost all the time you aren’t schizophrenic. It’s quite normal for healthy people to experience episodes of reality and imagination being indistinguishable, e.g. while being shortly before entering sleep or while consuming mind altering substances. It’s not schizophrenic unless you can’t distinguish reality from imagination in very clear and lasting manner. Or at least episodes with a loss of bodily control. Not everybody who hears or sees something that isn’t there is schizophrenic. It’s a serious illness and characteristic is the grave effect on the individuals life and his actions, if that’s not there we are likely talking about a pre clinical state.
