Wait that's the way I dress. I don't wear shirts with logos, but other than that.
I wear plain short sleeves, long sleeves, and sweatshirts. I tend to always wear pants, ranging from a bit less baggy than his to a bit more. Sometimes I wear shorts.

I have terrible social skills, social anxiety, and some weird habits/mannerisms.

I talk to him a lot because he's the person I'm most comfortable around, we're similar and have developed a very unique dynamic. Not so much. My philosophy was that ya need to have three solid things at least.

For me it was test scores, research/extracurricular, and letters of recommendation. My GPA was garbage and i don't know what my essays were like to be honest although I'm usually a good writer.

If you have a trash gpa focus on doing research to show you are competent and engaged. Make sure you have good letters of recommendation from professors who believe in you. And find some alternative avenue to prove you have the chops needed. Talking with grad students or professors at the grad schools you are interested in is a good idea too. If you press a professor enough they will lean on comitties for you.

Basically aim to show you are dedicated, experienced, and know your material well. The application has a lot of different avenues to show those sides of yourself so you just have to figure out which sides are best emphasized in your particular case for each section

Here's the local observatory, https://stellafane.org/.. Not very impressive but it's a tiny town so you can't expect much. Most towns of that size wouldn't have any sort of observatory.
