It will be kind of like Facebook, except better privacy, easier to share videos and music, better organized interface, a newsfeed from CNN or something of the sort, and maybe even some games.

I will be basically improving on Facebook's flaws, and I will be working on it myself for a few months. Base users? I don't even have a domain yet. My target audience is 10-40, I guess, just general people.

(No, seriously OP, you're not going bleed off any of facebook or tweeter or linked in's user base; especially with a plan like >>1172468 )

We need a site like Twitter, but more condensed. Like a Reader's Digest version of Twitter, because jet set boys on the go like me don't have time to read 140 characters.

Messages should only be 5 character max.

OP, you better find a better idea than social networking, which is already overflowing whit sites.

>> No.1172595

I think most social network sites have names like
[something personal][object]
you know like
[my][space]
[face][book]
[i][cam]
Taking that into account you could name it something like
[i][site]
[your][page]
[name][tag]
[picture][box]
[people][screen]

Well comming up with an idea is only part of the problem.
Servers don't come cheap and you'll need tons of bandwidth and space if you expect your site to keep up with all the people who sign up and videos demand tons of space and bandwidth.
If youtube hadn't been brought by google it would of definetely gone bankrupt by now.
And these sorts of things tend to grow at an exponential rate so you better have a bundle of servers ready at your disposal.
4chan is a good example of this.
Moot is in debt up to his eyeballs thansk to this site and there isn't a lot of ways he can make money out of it.

>Facebook received its first investment of US$500,000 in June 2004 from PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel.[46] This was followed a year later by $12.7 million in venture capital from Accel Partners, and then $27.5 million more from Greylock Partners.[46][47] A leaked cash flow statement showed that during the 2005 fiscal year, Facebook had a net loss of $3.63 million.[
