Depends which branch of science
I would say it would be detrimental to more practical science, such as labwork in chemistry or biology, and even experiments in physics
However when procrastinating, it is an advantage to focus all your attention to the train of thought. Thus by having the hand pre occupied stroking the beard, the brain can focus on deep matters

I wish i could grow a beard
I reckon it would help with my science, help me concentrate more, i have no idea why

>> No.1170619

My brain has always been a great advantage in my scientific pursuits.

Mostly because of what >>1170587 said about how beards work.

And chick dig my beard.

OP here, any famous scientists that didn't have beards? (Sagan doesn't count - he did fuck all)

Looks like he's running Plan 9, maybe in Drawterm. Is that Dennis Ritchie?

>> No.1170701

OP, a beard is only necessary if you're going into computer science, software engineering, or something like that.

Yes, I feel that my cognitive capacity has increased by 10% since the growing of mine.

Who knows? With the proper winman it can look like anything...

I think there is a window manager that looks pretty close to Plan 9 (9wm or something). If that is Ritchie (which it looks like) it probably is Plan 9 then, as he develops it/uses it in his research.

Yes
Whenever you encounter a difficult problem all you'll be able to stroke your beard and benefit from its magical properties
