Can I just lie about knowing how to code? Math major btw.

Why don't you try it and find out?

Checked thx for the confidence boost anon.
Speaking of which, why am I inclined to believe the most retarded shit just because it gets repeated digits assigned to the post?

Can't you just learn? Idk how, but I thought that any idiot could do it.

coding is probably one of the most boring fucking things you could do.

>> No.11695774

>>11695744
If you don't enjoy the fact that you created whatever you made yourself, than I guess it has no value. But it definitely is not boring. Finding efficient algorithms or even fixing bugs can be challenging though annoying in the later case at times.

>> No.11695783

>>11695774
Maybe it stops being boring after a certain point, but every time I've tried to learn to code properly it has been extremely boring; "type this if you want this thing done, type that if you want that thing done, type these two things if you want this to allow that." It may also be a function of my autism not allowing me to learn anything other than C for the first time I start coding, though.

I did,
BS in Neuro (glorified psychology)
Wanted to work this data role, required SQL, VBA, and preferred python.

I studied enough to fake an interview (they only asked behavioral questions and general problem solving questions, no whiteboard). Got the job. Learned what I needed on the job. Easiest 72k. I live in low-mid cost area so not bad for a glorified psychology grad

Well if you're just following instructions ofc its boring.
But if you're coming up with a new way of doing things its fun.

dont they teach programming in math and physics in the usa? in spain I had a whole course on fortran77 the first year and there were other subjects in computational physics

Wow in all that time you faked an interview you could've actually learned Python

results same in the end, besides getting a job quicker
maybe I was lucky and I wouldn't have passed any other job interview

from my psych studies, your ability to negotiate is a high predictor of success. But so is general competence so who knows.

Python cool, VBA is absolute shit though I'm not sure why businesses still use excel for anything other than quick pivot tables or csv storage

>I'm not sure why businesses still use excel

There is no alternative and we are hooked. I've seen actual programming as in database interacting scripts being routinely churned out in excel it is a hard thing to stomach but its being done allthe time. We're hooked.

At my school I was required to take a programming class for a gen ed. Boring as fuck but I guess I can code at the HS level. Also I can use Matlab.
Reason I ask is because I'd rather take pure math classes instead of stuff like numerical analysis or linear programming (or, God forbid, a CS class). Yeah I know it's not all just coding and there are cool theoretical aspects to each, but I really only like doing math that needs a pen and paper, not even a calculator. But at the same time I'd rather try my hand in industry instead of academia.

sure, but you better pull actual learn2kode off 2 weeks into the job or your be fired and blacklisted from the industry

yes it is trivial to say you cannot code

>> No.11696720

You can. A lot of interviewers will not ask in depth questions about technical skills and permit frauds into their companies.
