You can't claim to understand something if you can't explain it to other people. So, /sci/, explain why 2 plus 2 is equal to 4.

2 + 2 = (1+1) + (1+1) = ((1+1) + 1) + 1 = (2 + 1) + 1 = 3 + 1 = 3.999... = 4

how do you tell colors apart, and no "they look different" is not a meaningful explanation. you need to give both a rationale, and a scientifically testable metric to describe how and why the colors are different.

1+1=2
1+1+1+1=4
2+2=4
Can someone explain the signifigance of proofs to me?
Brainlet still trying to figure out why expressing the process in so many differnt forms matters.

>> No.11683804

>>11683770
No, no. You got it all wrong. Step aside.
1=1
1+1=1+1
Since 1(1)=1 and 2(1)=2 by defn, then 1+1=2
So 1+1=2(+2-2)
and 1+1+1+1=2(+2-2)+2
Which is eq. to saying 1+1+1+1=(1+1)+(1+1)=2+2
Following the logic, we see that 2+2=4

Still haven't figured proofs out this well, it's depressing. And i've been trying so little too.

Check the sorites paradox. You can explain it to other people, but that doesn't mean you understand it.

2+2=4. We are told it equals not 4, but this is not true. If 2+2 is not 4, then 2 is of no effect, and this cannot be.

Right, but that's an abstract concept.
The number 'two' can represent the number of electrons in a helium atom...
