To what extent do animals have "mind" as we conceive of it? To what extent are they just responding to stimuli?

I think our actions aren't as motivated by what happens in our minds as we would like to think, but we still do have mind. or at least I do

Well I can tell you that dogs are very sensitive to human emotion and display similar emotional characteristics to us. They also dream. My dog dreams just about every single night.

To the same extent as humans. If by "animals" you include Jews and Native Africans then of course the answer is those are exceptions; they don't have minds.

>To what extent do animals have "mind"...
are you including "humans" in what you call animals?
if not, then to what extent are humans NOT considered animals?

I'm not trying to be coy or cute here. If you answer 1 question you answer both of them. They're kinda the same question in a weird way.

I think in this case the difference is that we know humans have a mind because we're experiencing it when we think about this. And we can use language to communicate about it and based on the responses of others we can see that they've used abstract reasoning to think about it and therefore probably have a mind
