I am fucking terrified of climate change, is there any hope for advancements in the field of renewable energy? Or advancements in technology that could reverse it?

I'm hopeful we'll come to our senses once the sea level rise becomes undeniable. We'll likely lose a few cities and see a humanitarian disaster here and there, but it might not be too late to mitigate and even roll back some of the damage.

At this point I'm pretty apathetic towards it. I mean, yeah I still ride my bike everywhere and only eat meat once a week or so, but it's better for my health not to watch stories about bushfires or flooding or disasters on the news.

by the time we lose a few cities it's way past the point of no return and we'll have to shut down every single thing emitting CO2 and wait it out for 200 years

You're acting as though china and india/africa aren't responsible for 90% of the world's pollution and are copletely apathetic towards it. The future of climate change and pollution is completely out of our hands unless we want a war

I drive a de-catted diesel 2500HD, rolling coal on gay bikers whilst driving in circles around the industrial area of my city for hours everyday.
I then go home and burn plastics in my backyard for no reason at all.

There is completely renewable energy, but those in powers want to sell fossil.

If there was device that would just need to be build and maintained, it would be very cheap watt compared to oil.

Oil is getting cheaper to be concurent.

Energy is very cheap, just energy cartel wants to make a lot and lot of money out of it.

There are people willing to change this and take less cakes.

>> No.11641036

Not really, a lot of irreversible damage is going to occur over the next century. Renewables won't make enough of a difference in time. Just be glad you live in a developed country, as even though our economic activity is to blame for all this, we will be the least affected.

Well, maybe if stopped the global warming that's causing their homes(desert and savannah) to become even more uninhabitable than it already is, they wouldn't need to immigrate here.

Oh, the humanitarian disaster stuff, sea level rise. You seem to think that because you live in the 1st world (I'm assuming you do), that absolves you of all guilt from the effects of the warming. Newsflash, it doesn't, in fact you consumption makes you even more responsible than the average pajeet or chink, emission to population ratio.

Who tries to slide global warming threads? Is it /b/? Thankfully /sci/ is slow, so they'll fail every time.
