As a French student studying physics and math. What do you guys consider to be the greatest French scientists?

>> No.11634958

>>11634929
Marie Curie, de Broglie et Descartes

il y a du choix

>> No.11634967

>>11634958
Fourrier et Poincaré sont des costauds, mais je pense que Curie est la plus importante.

>> No.11634968

>>11634929

I have a historical interest in "French" mathematics but I'm slightly leery of describing mathematicians as scientists, though they certainly work in "the sciences".

Poincaré no doubt, he has made deep contributions to several fields and I absolutely see him as one of the founders of modern mathematics

if galois was so great, why did he lose the duel?

The french used to be great. I love french culture. You guys need to do something about the number of immigrants. The absolute state of Paris. Your country is becoming a shithole!

This. No one would have believed in the last years of the twentieth century that the racist white bourgeois elite of France would literally get replaced by a black rapist caliphate. Well, no one is laughing now!

If we want to bring up mathematicians, France has a good assortment, including Fermat, Cauchy, Pascal, Fourier and Descartes to name a few.

C'est depend. Greatness is largely subjective and the kind of things that can be done in different times are different. You could take someone like Cauchy or Riemann, get him up to date and watch them do some obscure research in complex geometry that hardly anyone cares about outside of a few ppl who work in the field.

Paris and other large cities (Nantes, Marseille) are fucked beyond salvation. Mass immigration was only the final nail in the coffin. Americanization of the youth was the real problem here. We now have faggots who wait 3 hours in line just to get McDonald's. A fucking disgrace.

French countryside is based though.

No way. That was just superficial. Enjoying burgers or hollywood movies doesn't change much of your culture. This does.

Evolution of the sickle cell disease rate among infants.
A disease mostly n**** get.
My home region, Brittany is the least affected one.
Vive la Bretagne!

>> No.11643907

>>11643874
Those are the percentages of newborns that are tested for sickle-cell disease among the total number of newborns.
Since that disease is only really present in african-decended, middle eastern and indian populations, and since it only appears when the kids get two diseased alleles, maternity centers only test the children whose TWO parents are black, arab or indian.

So about 38,85% of newborns in france in 2015 had two african, middle eastern or indian parents. 73,40% in the Paris region.
