My favorite conspiracy theory is that particulary retarded conspiracy theories, like space isn't real, flat earth, and so on, actually have glowniggers pushing them. They do this to tar by association anyone looking into more plausible conspiracies, like asking who did the CIA use its clandestine assassination tools on, what really happened with JFK's shooting, and such.

If it WERE some sort of movie set, wouldn't they just see it and do another take?
The idea that the government is so clever that it can fake the space program (and for whatever reason get hostile countries that would benefit from calling them out on their bullshit to accept it) but also has people release fake footage before checking the final product is laughable.

Nope. It's LOX slush. Watch any SpaceX launch and you'll see blobs of LOX dribble along the exhaust manifold, especially shortly after an engine restart due to it being an open cycle engine. Open cycle throws out a bit of LOX and RP-1 to run the turbopump. That's what you're looking at.

>>11627904
It's explained several times in this thread. Go look up several other SpaceX launches, pay close attention to the encircled part just prior to engine startup on the missions where they have several upper stage shutdowns/startups. That's the venting for the open cycle for the turbopump that vents out unused LOX and RP-1 to actually run and lube the turbopump. Before they start up the engine itself, they have to run some through it to get it running.
You seeing a rat/mouse there is a classic case of pareidolia.

When the engine is running like you see in the video, you see the venting gas. The "mouse/rat" in question is the blob that formed while they were priming prior to ignition.

I have an alternative theory.
I believe that flat earth/space denial/ evolution denial/etc was started by academics specifically to troll both brainlets as well as other academics. Because your average person is aware that earth is round and that space and evolution are real but if asked to explain how anyone knows that, how to prove those things without an appeal to authority they will usually draw a blank, so when confronted by some person making bold claims that they know are false but is backing those claims up with what to a layman at least sounds like a solid argument that they cannot provide a stronger argument against it results in a particularly annoying kind of frustration.

Either the person or persons behind the flat earth/space denial/etc false flags was attempting to encourage the average person to have a better understanding of how things work/ develop better debate skills, or they were just trolling and wanted to see people get butthurt.
