Not really. At least IQ tests are actually measuring either something quantitative (memorization, digit span, symbolic recognition speed, reaction time, etc) or something which at least attempts to have a correct answer (raven's matrices, x is to y as z is to _, logic puzzles)
They are by no means perfect, but they do not fail in the same way is this type of test.
In an IQ test you can't have people saying "Do I have excellent ideas? Why yes, of course! I'm me and I'm awesome! Therefore, I have amazing ideas!. Okay next question... Do I have a vivid memory? Aha, yes! I am me, so I am awesome. I am awesome, so I am smart. I am smart, so I have vivid memory! I mean hey, it's not like I can see what happens in other people's heads to compare! Alright, am I organized? Well I'd say I'm more organized than my roommate Stan, that guy just chucked all his papers on the ground whereas I shove all my papers in a pack! So yeah, I'd say I'm decently organized."
You cannot trust people to self report accurately.
By the Dunning-Kruger effect (the actual one, not 'the le epik peak of mount stupid' reddit version), most people, regardless of actual ability, believe themselves to be above average.

>> No.11610909 [DELETED]

>>11610885
That is true, but you would be able to see which report more accurately and which do not. For instance, if someone is clearly trying to overly favor themselves, they would have unrealistically high metrics, like >>11610829. As such, you would then see those with a great asymmetry or average scores is more likely to be "truer". Also, studies looking at Big Five, in relation to things like IQ, have found significant positive correlations between Openness to Experience and higher IQ scores. So clearly, there is more than just hogwash to Big Five, but of course, it isn't infallible either.

>Well, a group from the University of British Columbia recently published an enormous meta-analysis on the danger of assuming that all of humanity closely matches the behaviors of 20-something college students. They cite evidence that between 2003 and 2007 undergrads made up 80 percent of study subjects in six top psychology journals, and that 96 percent of all psychology samples come from countries that make up only 12 percent of the world’s population. 30, last job was a machine technician but I left and have been unemployed and living off savings for about a year.

I feel like these results are a bit skewed because while I criticize and judge people harshly, I do my best to keep it internal and to always find some positive solution or outcome even when dealing with people who don't know any better, dumb people make mistakes getting mad is inefficient when compared to the return on teaching them to be less dumb.
