The rate of innovation has been slowing down since the 90s. Moore's law isn't even used anymore. 99% of the technology we use has barely budged in the past 50+ years, the only things that's still innovating the tech field and that's been slowing down at an alarming rate. Whenever we stop innovating, that's going to be the limit of humanity unless there's some major breakthrough in physics at the level of electromagnetism (not happening).
Don't be sad though, it's obvious that this growth coudn't continue forever. We're just going to have to accept the fact that technology will never reach sci-fi levels, a simple trip to Mars will be a multi-decade impractical effort with no way to speed it up.
