I don't think it matters how long you can live.
regardless if you live 100 years or 1000 years, Marcus Aurelius points out that eventually your mind and body will start failing you. You'll lose the ability to control limbs and reason, or your memory will start depleting.

Maybe those that care about how long they live are the insufferable ones that all the immortals keep trapped in a memory prison so they can have some peace and quiet from the most irritating individuals in all eternity?

It's not a matter of how long you live, but how you live while you're alive.

What is 'it' in this context? Who is giving it to me and who would I give it to, and if I have to be this intermediary then is there any supplementary information to give the next entity as to what this 'it' is in order to reduce future confusion?

>> No.11534478

>>11534426
The 'IT' in that context is life.
Who is giving it (life) to you? Depends who you ask, some say god, others say nature and the universe.
Who would you give it (life) to? Well that's obvious, your children, your off springs, if you choose to have them.
Not sure what you mean by 'supplementary information to give to the next entity' because I thought you were either schizo-posting or I was having a stroke because I just couldn't read it properly.
But I'm assuming by 'next entity' you mean the same entity you were asking about who to give 'it' to. In that case maybe children, and I say your best bet for supplementary information is encourage them to read history, philosophy, the great leaders, any of the sciences, teach them that life is not fair and is a struggle; but that the suffering is worth striving to the heights itself. this will help avoid confusion maybe.

Life must be lived forward, but it can only be understood backwards.

Need some clarification here.

Who is life a matter that anyone has to report to on? What do we need something to help us qualify our own lives beyond our own intellect/opinion/information diet?

Couldn't we just substitute life for virtually ANY noun group for your given description?

Are we just describing archiving fundamentals?

Brain cells don't divide themselves, right? That means the record would go to the oldest person in history which was 122 years old.

Without technology, around 110-120 years. With technology that can accurately repair body tissues faster than they deteriorate pretty much indefinitely.

I would guess that humans will eventually get biological immortality and the big problem would be mental health and suicide. Fixing a mind with technology is much harder than fixing a malfunctioning body part.

Seems like maximum human longevity may be capped. Seen some research on topic a few yrs back, where it was shown that throughout 20th century all the most long-living ppl capped ar ~120 yrs. No increase happened throughout the century.
So, medicine only helps ppl to get more of those 120yrs, but does nothing to actually extend human lifespan.

If you can hit 90+ years old the body actually stops aging. The problem is that it is so beat up and worn down it doesn't take much to knock your ass out.
If you could maintain your health and mental facilities to that age and then live in a sterilized bubble you could survive indefinitely in theory.
Quality of life will be your big issue at that point.
