You'll need to respond to bait and set your namefag disdain level to high for starters. Your grammar is already good, so you'll be able to spot chinese shills, and I hope frogposts don't bother you. You'll be fine, be welcome.

Why would you want to?
I'd be /lit/ instead of /sci/ if I wasn't a brainlet.

they're snobs dude, try it out if you want, it's mostly them one-upping each other over what obscure author they're reading.

Actually this board will destroy everything you know about science cause every second answered is the 9th most likely case of what it actually is,m giving an completely distorted picture of reality.
I guess many people think thats funny but if you try to learn sth. ...
X is closer to lit. and also post sometimes the deep since shit.

maybe I really want it, or I just want to try something else and take a break. Either way so much of it is just reorganising and adding philosophical thoughts to language pointers for the contemporary moment. Explaining an ever transforming monster. Either that or an endless and nonsensical battle of analytic and continental thought, which is useless as I think philosophy should not be split like that.
I went more seriously into philosophy and literature at ~16 after being mostly into physics. Some years later I see it wasn't just me who knew nothing and how almost if not everyone are mentally ill because of the language and concepts they are given, existing within their limited, non adaptive and passive frame. An average person today even unconsciously worships the decimal system like we did in the past, mostly because that's the only type of counting they know.
People aren't really existing, it's like they're not even conscious of their own capability of self-reference or that language is a tool to organize our two types of environments through a type of one to one correspondence with a set of signs we create.
Even associates just stay in their small bubbles of concepts.
I don't like these people anymore and I can't connect with a single person either. Which made me start to think that maybe I should've just stayed with my interest in physics.

Unironically just start by finding a free online course from some univeresity that fits your current level. Or just find a course on Khan Academey. Don't let pseuds overwelm you with huge reading/check lists.
Focus more on doing problems and getting practice than reading through texts.

Welcome, my fellow /lit/
I too enjoy both boards

If you want to be part of /sci/, start with books that holds familiarity of both boards
Lovecraft shit are a start as the guy studied and met with a lot of scientists to grow his mythos
I also recommend a lot of non-fiction books
>The Hot Zone
>Demon in the Freezer
>Paramedic
>Elegant Universe
etc.

They are a good read.
Be warned: Just like our boards, this place has its good and bad

At best, /sci/ would give you something new and useful to learn
At worst, you would find pretentious and annoying fucks who think that they are always above the rest. If you found a Computer Science thread, keep away as those guys are our equivalent of pompous Atheists

Both boards are 4chan's most intelligent boards and visiting both boards can give you a well-rounded lesson in life. A humbling experience, if I say so myself

Learn about the scientific method and just try to understand how does the world around you work. If you get interested about something try to find information about it and understand. Learn whatever is interesting for you.

Easy, forget every epistemology you know, acquire a naive metaphysical materialism, and oppose science to philosophy. Once there, try working around you own material psychology and when it doesn't work start crying it can't be a science. Add a little being proud of own's ignorance and narrowminded... And voilà! There you go!

being /sci/ isn't really about what do you know but about how do you think.

>> No.11497479

If you have any interest in /sci/, I recommend you focus your interest toward the mathematics part of the board. The dedicated threads which tend to focus on math are usually quite high quality. Most other threads are garbage. You get one or two cool physics, chemistry, or geology threads every week or so. Not much of interest.
Given that you come from /lit/, there's probably a proper way to introduce you to mathematics through some bridge of mathematical philosophy or literature.
Perhaps try reading the book "Godel, Escher, Bach" by Douglass Hofstadter to whet your appetite. I've heard it's quite good.
You may also take advantage of the many video lectures available online at the moment to pick up on some mathematics wherever you start to feel shaky. Makes your life easier if you have a grasp on calculus, but this is by no means necessary.

Read a freshman textbook on whatever subject you're interested in. If you want to start with math you might find pic related easier.
