who care, it will explode on launch pad

>> No.11492736

>>11492481
unironically it will, because that's politically the best option. they can't just say they were unable to finish it, so they package up something that looks like it's done, put it on the launchpad. ULA snipers make the shot. It's the least bad option for them and it's going to happen

>> No.11492748

>>11492481
No, better that it fails in space so NASA has to take the blame. Exploding on the pad would mean that NASA can just blame Ariane while spending billions making another tax farm.

Plenty of people have died working on that telescope, the rest of them are in advanced age

>> No.11493069

>>11492791
Yeah, they were young men when the work started and since then they died of old age while the telescope still sits in a white room.

>The JWST originated in 1996 as the Next Generation Space Telescope (NGST)
It will be wildly outdated before reaching the launch pad. Time to redo the instruments and get the benefit of 25 years of advances?

I worked at nasa for a time. Even almost a decade ago, the JWST still having not launched was a huge meme in the organization internally. I can't image what they think now. This thing will never launch, mark my words.
