Astronomy today is useful for studying cosmology, general and special relativity, particle physics, theoretical physics, gas dynamics, plasma physics, climate change, stellar evolution, the four fundamental forces (gravity &c.) meteorology, geology, national defense, and astrobiology.
Experiments too large or costly or dangerous to be done on Earth can be observed in/from space (think LIGO, neutrinos, tectonic shift).
Astronomy is fundamental to our understanding of physics and the universe, it's not just watching planets and binary stars anymore. Even more so than LHC. There's a reason every first world government pours billions in telescopes of all kinds. Also, it's an enjoyable hobby for millions, and a worthwhile endeavor for any mathematician.
The lengths Muskfags will go to defend their idol is laughable. They never admit he does anything wrong, or they label it as "necessary for progress". The guy is a con artist, and his satellites hurt astronomy, which hurts science, which hurts humanity.

Astronomy should be primarily in space anyways. Astronomers (professional ones, not amateur) are already having headaches from satellites crossing their fields of view, and the issue is just going to get worse over time nothing is stopping it. And besides, Starlink is only very visible during dusk and dawn, the two times of the night that astronomers aren't looking at the sky.
