Just a linear algebra problem 1/???. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask and I or someone here will try to help. Even if you have already taken linear algebra you might need the most help, so please don't be shy.

Explain to me what vector spaces are and how to work with them? Are they just like normal vectors with linear dependence/independence, spans, bases, and all those properties except that they can take the form of matrices?

Vector spaces are just unique sets of vectors that define a particular space.
You have already learned about specific vector spaces: Kernels (Null space), Image of a Matrix (Column space), Row Space (not commonly used or useful I think), and Eigen space. A space is defined as the set L.I. vectors that span that set.

Use this video to learn more.

I used this series to learn everything I need for Linear Algebra since most of my professors dont teach that well or as explicit due to their heavy shitty accents.

Can you solve the following problem?
Let's say we have a square matrix A and one of its eigenvectors u and its eigenvalue λ. Is the vector 7u an eigenvector of [math]5A^2+3A+I[/math]? If yes, find its eigenvalue
