The sun is only potent as an energy source for roughly 1 third of the day for many parts of the world. Muh greenyfag solar solution will need miles and miles of battery farms, which will be expensive. We dont even know if we have enough of the rare metals to shift the world to intermittent wind and solar. They arent even good for baseload power. Salt is a good energy carrier because of the higher melting point than water.
But the plant has to work perfectly and all the time, because if you have to shut it down the pipes will be filled with solid salt.

Utilizing tidal sources while cool and powerful, is still conceptual and doesn't count. They could also in fact have far worse environmental impacts than even a properly managed current generation reactions, much less next generation reactor designs based on thorium or salt.

A normal solar panel gets like 300 watts at noon,
It's a sheet of hail storm proof glass that you put in the sun.
And it powered mankind's electricity needs.

People had solar in the 80s, it's just very expensive.
It's 40 years later. It is no longer expensive.

And the current generation collects power in ambient light and under clouds.
Just not as much.
So your house runs the exact same if it's cloudy for a few days.

That's also why you stay on the grid.

Try to imagine a solar panel as a reverse light globe.

Because we only have a couple examples of a working msr which were designed to fly a bomber in the 50’s. A power plant would take a few billion dollars to develop, from the specific materials needed to building the thing and getting fuel.
