What flammable solids may be ignited by an electric sparks in powder form? If Jewgle was any good I wouldn’t need to ask here.

Flour and coal dust are known to cause huge and damaging explosions. Coal dust explosions have sunk many coal fired ships. Making black powder can ignite thanks to sparks from build up of static charges.

Nano particles of aluminium is extremely explosive.

You're trying to make a pipe bomb? Is that it? You're going to blow up your school because shit sucks? I'm really fucking disappointed in you, because that is NOT the way to go about your life.

What you NEED is a small blasting cap to affect the primary explosive component, in which the initial heat and pressure will detonate the more volatile composition that should make up the majority of your bomb.

>muskets
yeah of course because a barrel pipe is sealed on both ends, right.

a dust explosion in a small tube won't work well anyway, it needs a larger volume of air to burn. if you are looking into propellants bp or nc are the things you should be looking into, not dust explosions.

Most solids in powder form are explosive, some more than others depending on it's affinity to the components of atmosphere (oxigen in air is one specific case)
If the particles are slowly oxidized on their surface, the powder becomes inert. If they have non oxidized active surface they may get oxidized explosively fast either by exposure to a steady current or blast of oxygen or even on their own just sitting there on the air.

I’ve read online that ferrocium (conventional lighter flint rods) is highly flammable as is ‘urinal cakes’, (naphthalene, I think). So if I mortar and pestled either of those, it may shoot. I just don’t know how powerful they would be.
>>11447915
I’ve tried that. Trouble is, it’s very tedious shaving match heads off.
>>11447959
Well a .50 caliber lead ball or cylinder won’t go far if it’s not sealed tight in the barrel; it would drop out the front and the gun would turn into a 2 metre long scorching dragon’s breath flamethrower (this has happened before) because I use finely powdered sparklers (which have iron filing in them) as I am yet to make BP or NC.
Yes, I agree. Dust explosions won’t work in a confined space, but on an intriguing note, thermobarric weapons utilise dust explosions to literally ignite the air.
>>11447983
I think solids with water would have a harder time burning, like flour, id est.
Even iron filings work, albeit slowly. I’m guessing I have a narrow range of ‘good’ powders that ‘deflagrate’ forcefully fast but don’t ‘detonate’ like a grenade.
