Recruitment should always be targeted at the less representative groups in any field in order to counter any cultural influence. The ones biologically drawn to those fields don't need recruitment. This will be a perpetual thing, and it doesn't discriminate against the majority group.

At my university, departments get more money if they hire women. They get an extra amount for money specifically for them, for conferences etc, which men don't get.

At my department there are 4 female PhDs, 3 males. Majors are 87% male, 13% female (surprisingly no "diverse").
We do have a gender "equality" officer at university, but it must be a female, and she can only be voted for by females. It's totally fucked.

It's simple: I just want everyone to acknowledge that gender is socially constructed and that heteronormative ideas of sex/sexuality are oppressive. I'm always triggered when people fail to recognise this because it makes me feel like an outsider for not conforming or fitting into one of your type-casting boxes. "othering" people is dehumanising, and forcing me to feel like this is oppressive. It is a BASIC HUMAN RIGHT to feel comfortable in your own skin. Also, masculinity is toxic and male-dominated spaces facilitate normative, oppressive gender stereotypes, which preclude non-normative/non-binary people from participation as they will never feel welcomed into these hostile spaces. Men force their will and prejudices onto society: they exercise physical and social domination with complete disregard: they commit the majority of assaults, and do all the raping... they control the home as well as all the powerful and influential positions in media and government. All this does it perpetuate male domination. It has been this way through all of human history and now they are scared because people are realising that equality is not as controversial as they say it is.

Canadian government put a mortuary on chair grants until men and women are 50% of funded chairs. Every university has an internal program that amounts to that as well, but even worse: for assistant prof positions (which are unpaid positions). Just top of my head live documented examples that can easily be verified by checking official venues. For the most part those things are "open secrets" otherwise.

Gender and sex are the same thing for humans. Gender is used in grammar for non-living things to express masculine vs feminine quality. A man with feminine qualities is still a man, as a woman with masculine qualities is still a woman.
