Ultimately, if intelligence is to survive for an extended period of time (on the cosmic scale) something smarter (some like Nick Boston might call it “superintelligent”) will need to come along and devise a way to escape supernovas, the sun exploding, game theory (“The Game”, specifically when dealing with other agents), and heat death.
But a purely natural biological intelligent agent would stand no chance in the long run, no, which is why you see we are already at full mental capacity and entertain ourselves by dumbing down that capacity in exchange for dopamine

At what point did I claim that this was a chosen process by organisms? In fact, I quite explicitly question the chances of an intelligence evolving, because it seems largely detrimental and unwanted. Apes are perfectly content, and most humans are perfectly content getting fucked up on drugs and alcohol, sex, consoomerism, TV. Why does our intelligence exist at all?

I'm not a scientist I just like to read shit on this board and sometimes I learn something, but why does everything have to be from a stand point of simply eating, shitting and reproducing? And besides people are only that fucking stupid because of our education system, it's "character education". They don't know facts, they know social justice. They don't have a desire to learn because they never learned to begin with. The whole time their brains were remodeling they were just learning that homelessness is because retards aren't getting paid 15 dollars an hour and that you're beautiful no matter how fat you are . Their brains are totally wired to just sit on facebook and watch tv after they go work their shitty 9 to 5 job. I'm like 99 percent sure this is the problem, aside from the toxic effects of fast food and drugs and potato life. I don't think it has anything to do with not needing to fight for survival.

Has it ever though? You have to account for group/kin selection and sexual selection in addition to natural selection to get a clearer picture of how our intelligence was formed and how it has formed us; why the selection for intelligence has been declining since the industrial revolution.

There is the sexual selection hypothesis.
Basically our human intelligence evolved like the feathers of a peacock by mate selection. Showing that you are intelligent meant that you could spare a lot of energy to invest in a energy costly big brain which made you more attractive. Not neccesarily because intelligence was always useful for survival.
