What is /sci/'s honest opinion on ancient astronauts? I personally gravitate toward it for admittedly illogical reasons

checked, so i answer. it's a fringe, pseudoscientific theory stanned by people like von daeniken, stating that aliens visited earth during all stages of humankind, reflected by art, folklore and seemingly out of place artifacts. none of the claims held up so far or could be explained more mundane.

I'm not cool with "everything was built by ET" but, could people have been visited in the past? Sure, why not.

Here is more objective and convincing fun reading.

They weren’t aliens. They were fallen angels that were worshipped as idols/false gods. The human gene pool was being corrupted by them and it was one reason God flooded the Earth.
