What is the greatest major of all time and why is it Electrical Engineering? MechEs get an honorary spot as well.

>> No.11337245

Actually Mech is superior, they need to know about plenty of EE concepts but also about mechanical physics, materials and chemistry.
One of the oldest and most complete fields by far.

Funny because I live in a large midwestern metropolitan area and there is just as much demand here for EEs as MechEs, if not more. And the BLS has a median income of about 100k for EEs

You can actually do CS easily if you are EE but not so easy if you are CS and want to do EE, I hope you can understand that. They hire code monkey - computer science people with no degrees, as long as they know something or are willing to learn... so thats that. Not to mention that CS didnt exist few decades ago.

imma physics/cs/ee autist finishing up grad school. the company i'm part timing with hired a cs/math major to do software engineering for us. he absolutely cannot do any physics (and completely over-engineers everything he works on), which severely limits his utility. i thought knowing the math would have made picking up physics easy

Graduating with a degree in EE in April. I'm too stupid for this degree but I'm too tired to start over in something else. Got a whole bunch of Fs and C's on my transcript and I think my gpa is 2.9 or 3.0.

Don't do EE if you just want to end up in software. That's where most of the jobs are anyway. It's too much work and you'll lose all your hair. Btw don't expect to get a design job with an undergrad degree. If you want a hardware design job here's the complete path:
>Do EE
>Do research with a prof in your 1st/2nd year
>Do internships over the summer
>Get good grades in your classes (if you're not getting A- minimum you better watch out)
>Take RF courses, analog design courses, microwave courses, telecommunications courses (aka all the hard courses taught by shitty profs)
>Do your masters and PhD
>Present your research at conferences
At this point you can get the top design jobs.

You'll probably do fine if you just want a job. But if you want to go all the way with a PhD you should really like what you're doing and it should come naturally to you. There are some people who are like ducks in water when they're doing electronics. So the competition is stiff for the top jobs or the top grad programs.
