Im forgetting what people said mid conversation and I cant focus to save my life. How the hell do I fix this, its making learning ridiculously hard. I cut the booze and starting exercising hard, I just want my memory back so I can stop being shit at my job.

How much sleep do you get? Memory retention is directly correlated with sleep quality and quantity considering your brain processes all the information during these periods.

Another thing, perhaps your brain simply works a different way than others. Personally, I too have poor ability to listen. When people are saying x, y, and z, I can sometimes hear x and let me brain take me to x1, x2, x3, etc. etc. while completely not hearing y and z. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it helps to be around people who understand and aren't petty cunts. Most mature people can recognize these differences and can create strategies involving the certain qualities of certain pieces.

If it helps, try to write things down. Ask questions. Don't be afraid to ask "I didn't quite get that, can you repeat that?" If you find yourself losing track of the conversation, it doesn't hurt to admit it. Sometimes it helps people learn how to best communicate to you if you communicate to them your pitfalls.
