Humans have more value than animals but only on the basis that we are here to fulfill God's will on earth. Animals do not actively participate in the divine comedy. But, that does not mean we should treat them poorly. There is a great story the prophet Muhammad once told about a prostitute who once gave a dehydrated dog water to drink. Dispite the sinful life she led, she was sent to Heaven just because of this act. We should treat animals as we are commanded to in the holy scriptures, and with love if have the opportunity to.
