how did you get over the fact that most of science culture is onions? every time i walk into a lecture I see "I fucking love science" on people's laptop screens, women with purple hair, people with "kawai" drawings of famous physicists on their laptops, and endless soys making sci-fi references.
I just can't get over it, even though I love the actual material. Every time I interact with science I see basedjaks. Combine that with all the annoying bureaucratic things around publishing and getting higher in academia, I don't know if I have a future in science.

You don't know what science is, you know what undergraduate education is. Stop posting. This board should require you to prove you have a degree of some kind before people post.

I just focus on the lecture material and how it applies to me. Unless someone is actively doing something to get the attention of the class, then I don't really think of them.

I went to a UC school (university of california).
it's mostly rich asians and soys and females who make way too many sci-fi references and "nerd out" over small things really ostentatiously in order to establish their intelligence.
and which university do you or did you go to that doesn't have these kind of people? In my experience, there's a positive linear relationship between school ranking and the rates of these types of people with a few exceptions.

Imperial college and UCL
Both UK universities, both often ranked top 10.
You may see soys, but they're likely in non-stem fields. The stem people generally look like normal people

university life is a sissy combination of sleep away camp and high school for people who are "of age" but not yet "of value to society" enough to merit a job with a living wage or better.
everyone involved with academia is lame to the core.

I go to a selective private college in New England. Kids here are just your typical new england preppy athlete or nerd look. Most of them concerned with making their parents proud and/or getting a high class job. Most of them aren't all that søy and are at least in shape.
