Hell and satan is a way of keeping christians christian.
The original 7 deadly sins are all natural and will happen in a persons life, thus everyone is a sinner,a nd sinners go to hell, thus they must go to chruch and become absolved, out of fear.

Not believing in a god implies that one doesnt believe in hell, thus making your threat pointless, without having a hell to fear, and a magical sky man to worship, christianity is as fallacious as any weird nature religion.

I don't refuse. I believed in him for the first 25 years of my life. I still want to believe. But there are too many inconsistencies and discrepancies for me to ignore.

If there was a god and people were capable of making contact and understanding it, then why aren't all descriptions of god the same? You go to an aboriginal tribe in Papua New Guinea and what they tell you about gods and ghosts is radically different from what they believe in the Congo, or in Rome or in Moscow or in Tokyo or in Hong Kong. This means one of two things, either humans can not understand what they are experiencing, or what they are experiencing isn't real (or both). Either way, it discredits all religion because it means their dogma isn't true and it means the Western Christian concept of God isn't true either.
