BBC have an intelligence test for a Horizon episode they are making. Seems to indicate a social media thing with the post test questionnaire.

Anyways..Flex your smarts here:

Its 11pm here and i'm tired so could do a bit better if I wasnt tired but yeah.. also I think I'm possibly autistic?

As others I'm sleepy and tired. Don't know why I bothered. Maybe I'll try to max out this gayass test tomorrow.

Interesting though if I'm really that bad at language stuff since I'm interested in languages and that gives support to my theory that people are interested in stuff they suck at. Like someone who enjoys cooking for example must really suck at basic things to feel sufficiently challenged and hence derive pleasure from something mundane.

Because it's easy as fuck-for young males who have grown up with video games. Men can do that. You just pick out the 2-3 bits and their relation to each other and go "oh yeah, only that one makes sense."

I reckon the other element is that you can "see" it all at once. Not so, the Simon-esque number-rattling and square-rattling. If I get a food pellet as a reward, then I'm incentivized to short-term instant recall random strings of 0-9. But I'm not (in this case), so nah. Those two areas of the game were where I got most bored and cared the least, tbqh.

Also, as on the SAT I took years ago, the verbal comparision test contained items which were in fact incorrect. But using one example which was "incorrect" according to the test (but which wasn't), I gamed things a bit on a related follow-up, reasoning that the test would make the same basic mistake (it did), which I used to improve my score slightly.

Like most "tests" involving non STEM subjects this was retarded. I am rather drunk but time factor was a problem for me, I assumed I should do it as quickly as possible. So I fucked up a few questions answering before double checking.
The verbal working memory one would have been so much easier if I had a string of numbers instead of numbers flashed at me, the timing of the flashes fucks up my ability to internally divide the numbers into blocks, 123,456 or 1234, 5678, 98 ect.
I wonder how the spacial span test grading works? I'm sure I got 6 or 7 out of N on the harder tests but whatever
I fucked up verbal analogy by going too fast, I thought I'd get more points for going faster.
The verbal comprehension one was fucked, I had to deduce the answer for a few of them. They were using a fair number of obscure words.

But by far the worst was the emotional intelligence test, that was just retarded. Getting us to guess what emotions people are faking for a picture is not the same as recognizing emotions. One face had an open mouth while the other didn't, another pair one one clearly had their outer eyebrows going down while the other had them level. The faces were pictured from different angles, some above and some below horizontal. A much better test would have had people filmed while they react to short clips so as the emotions were genuine and it would let us see how there face changed. Plus ugly "diverse" people.

I'm thinking they'll publish a study soon highlighting englands lack of "emotional intelligence " and why we all need re-education.

Yeah, fuck the reading test. I noticed I did better when doing a similar test where I could see the whole sequence as well. I guess they did it this way though to see if you could do it with a fragmented, unpredictable sequence, like when you have to take note of a sequence without prep time or warning.
I think the verbal comprehension one has supposed to be guessed. I'm not a native speaker, but it still felt to me like you weren't supposed to actually know those words, just guess their meaning by things like sound, whether it's verb or noun-like, elimination by the ones you already answered/knew were something else, and the ones you actually knew were like "hints". Else it just becomes a "can you read these 4 paragraphs fast enough?" test.
And come on, the emotions one was literally just reading facial elements and seeing if they matched on a slightly different face. You didn't have to guess which emotion it was, just see if they shared the same elements. It counts in the sense that actual emotional reading is just that, but on a far greater scale (since people also fake them and you have to read a lot of inputs to correctly get it all the time). And the diversity is probably meant to avoid people giving them shit - you're more likely to get right the faces of people who you live around, and if they were all white they'd be "discriminating against people of color", and since they'd be getting worse scores the shitstorm would be even worse.
I just realized time matters only in some test, and I could have done better in the ones where it didn't. Still kinda fun to just try and speed run it though.

If its spoken or read as multiple discrete sequences or if i see the whole number and separate it into different parts that is verbal working memory. As opposed to trying to juggle numbers into discrete sets while trying to remember how many there should be in the super set based on remembering the last super set of numbers then grouping these numbers into a logical group of sets then trying to remember the verbal representation of those numbers in the correct order.

Nigger good code consists of a lot of tiny functions that solve one specific problem each and that can be re-aligned infinitely. I'm not saying you shouldn't plan the code, but only on a very conceptual and interface-level.

Not surprising that /sci/ is full of people who have good spatial intelligence but poor face recognition. A bit surprised people aren't so great at planning. I've often thought it would be a good idea to have a 'group test' function for these psychology quizes, the Big Five, MBTI and IQ, so you could just drop a link on a forum and then collect the data without having to rely on people reporting back. You do not use words to determine relations between objects, yes.
Objects and categories are however often conveyed in the form of words. If you can understand the word and the category's relation to another word and category then yeah good you've found a category, not in something necessarily verbal but just something conveyed verbally.
I don't quite understand the second part of your reply. However perhaps my phrasing was bad, I was just referring to the fact that non-native speakers may have selective vocabularies as they generally don't have as much experience with any languages beyond their first one.

I had a similar experience with the faces. Some of the expressions are more complex, either being faked or only having the dominant emotion be the same as in the other picture, while ultimately the expression does not mean the same thing.

To get them all right you have to realize that who or whatever they used to categorize the faces was essentially on the spectrum and couldn't discern the difference. There is a very simple pattern of how you have to answer wrong to be "right".
