Now, how do we stop billionaires from wasting millions of billions blasting rocket ships into space? There is literally nothing but rocks out there. We need to fix the problems on earth before burning up money on unfeasible space travel fantasies. Many of these billionaires funding space are ruining the planet in the first place.

The chance of the mass extinction of the human race is 100% if we stay on Earth. It is inevitable that either war, a bioweapon, pollution, some cosmic event like an asteroid, or the sun expanding into a red giant will kill all of us.

If our species is to survive, we have to spread to other planets among the stars. That way if one planet is compromised the entire species doesn't go extinct.

Eventually the universe will probably die with heatdeath or a big crunch or something, but we might as well try and enjoy our time and make the most of it.

>Our world is not infinite and we will eventually run out of resources and space. We will need to grow and gather from locations that do not damage the local environments, And places to live when overcrowding becomes too much an issue.

>Space has inspired the minds of millions, From fiction to art people have rallied around the grand scope of whats above us. Millions of stars, With billions of worlds.

There will always be an "Issue" on the horizon, Climate Change, Hunger, Overpopulation, Every generation there will be another topic that will be brought up as some form of morale grounds to ignore the call of space travel. It would become that lifelong dream that you slowly put away, Every day telling yourself it can be put off until one day you simply shelf it completely as a foolish dream unrealistic dream. Except the dream was never unrealistic or foolish, You simply grew too weary from the work to pursue it.

You guys are dumb. Space travel is a fantasy and a waste of money. There is no evidence to suggest that humans can live in space and no reason to think that people can survive a year in cramped shithole of a ship on a journey to mars. That doesn't even factor in radiation or debris in space. The longest time anyone has been in space was like a year and there is evidence that cognitive abilities decrease in space. Humans evolved to live on Earth and the matter of fact is that we need to fix shit on this planet instead of burning up billions on rocket fuel. Guys like Bezos are as rich as it gets, ruin our planet, and then claim we need salvation in space by burning up billions of dollars on rocket fuel (money they earned from exploiting people and the planet in the first place).

Additionally, Earth's resources are ultimately finte. Climate change or no, our amount of finite resources and the Sun set a really HARD limit on our time unless we figure out space travel, in particular to the distant inhabitable planets (and possibly terraforming more into that condition). >There is literally nothing but rocks out there. We need to fix the problems on earth before burning up money
Some of those rocks are metals, so outsourcing our productions from under the atmpsphere into space (to make our own rings more visible maybe) can solve some of ecology problems down here. Asteroid mining sounds like a great idea (and a true intent beyond precise engines they engineer as if for reusable rockets) though it's not my field of expertise, I'm only guessing.
Sending humans into space will be recognized as an atrocious idea, especially when humans will become potentially immortal (soon)
Going into space via robot-avatars, sending to our senses the visions and receiving from us communds to go and do something (with a ping, but also with safety)
Those martian caves are waiting for a orbiter sending there robotic snakes. Those snakes have to set transmitters at the edge of the cave and being attached to it by a firm cable, explore those caves as long as that cable lets it. Or to leave a cable hanging with another transmitter, so they can explore further whether being connected to that cable by some wi-fi or to use their own recording device when they're getting off the wifi range.

The truth is that money alone, at least on the scales that SpaceX is funding etc, won't help much for emissions etc. I think you underestimate how much money solving those problems would take. Put it this way: the problems are already solved, but the cost required is so high that no businesses or governments are comfortable paying for it. If a couple billion could solve the problems it would have been done already. It's hundreds of trillions of dollars.
