ITT: Post engineering degree tier list.

INB4 All engineers are shit tier lololololololo!111!!11.

>> No.1125940

sorry, but all engineers are shit. you can't inb4 a state of being.

>> No.1125944

All engineers are shit tier lololololololo!111!!11

>> No.1125952

Civil would be near the bottom because there is no real thought in it. Every bridge civil engineers build were designed for them years ago.

>> No.1125950

But how are they placed in the shit tier? Which belongs to the god tier of shit tier?

>> No.1125972

From highest tier to lowest:

nanotechnology engineering
mechatronics engineering
electrical engineering
computer engineering
biological/biochem engineering
environmental engineering
software engineering
mechanical engineering
chemical engineering
civil engineering

>> No.1125978

>>1125972

Aerospace near the top

>> No.1125985

>>1125972
>mechanical engineer towards the bottom

>> No.1125989

>>1125985

big gap between mech and chem/civil imo

>> No.1126003

Chemical Engineering is much higher then that list - mostly because the possibilities to go into biotech (a hugely growing field) and nanotech material science (the next major step in materials) stem directly from CE undergrad.

>> No.1126027

>>1126003

Sure, CE has a lot of potential, but biochem is basically covers that. Environmental engineering, at least where I am from, has biotechnology courses, relating to wetlands and genetic engineering, so I think it is justified.

>> No.1126036

>>1125972
Looks about right.

I'd add Aerospace under Electrical.

>> No.1126120

4 Computer Science - $61,205
5 Computer Engineering - $60,879
6 Electrical/Electronics & Communications Engineering - $59,074
7 Mechanical Engineering - $58,392

BTW this is awesome for all those hard science vs engineering faggots.

no it just makes you look like a fag for using money in the argument

also wtf is a petroleum engineer?

>> No.1126146

>>1126140

Someone who engineers petrol. Its a chem engineering specialty.

>> No.1126154

>>1126146
right thats what i mean, i don't see why it should be in its own category for that list

>> No.1126156

>>1126140

Yes because wanting a job that you're both interested in and gives you a more comfortable lifestyle is pure faggotry.

And petroleum engineers work in the oil industry hurr... salaries are higher cause they travel a lot to remote places and it's a somewhat dangerous environment.

>> No.1126165

>>1126154

Same reason why aerospace is on there when it really just speciallised mechanical.

>> No.1126164

>>1126154

Because it is it's own 4-year program at a number of schools.

>> No.1126171

petroleum engineers make the most, but that won't be true for much longer.

>> No.1126175

>>1126146
It isn't, actually. There are a multitude of mechanical engineering problems associated with petroleum. And a vast amount of geosciences and geomatics. It's a multidisciplinary field, similar to mechantronics. It would be wrong to say mechatronics is a subfield of mechanical, or electrical, or control engineering: it's the synthesis of all three.
