What can be considered as a non-meme degree? How can you define if the degree is worthless or not?

It's probably better to do it on a case by case basis based on the program and university offering it. In general though people would count most liberal arts and softer sciences as meme degrees.

As a rule of thumb, any degree whose title is a combination of two or more words is a meme degree. For example, anything involving biotech or biosomething is a meme. This may not encompass all memes, so here follows a list of non-meme degree that aren't worthless.
>physics
>chemistry
>biology
>geology
>medicine
>economics
>statistics
>mathematics
>civil engineering
>mechanical engineering
>eletrical engineering
>chemical engineering
>computer engineering
>computer science
If you are considering a degree outside this list, there's a good chance it's a meme.

My definition of a meme degree is simple:

If the average student can finish the program and there is no direct job immediately from it then the degree is a meme degree.

>Chem
>intl studies
>basically every art major
>neuro sci
>psych
>etc.

Degrees like comp sci are not meme degrees for example. But that doesn't mean they are respectable, know the difference.

Degree = worthless
NEET = a worthwile lifestyle.

A non-meme degree is no guarantee of a non-meme education. The hallmark of a good education is one which enriches your ability to become the best version of you that you can be.

Most meme degrees cannot do this, because they teach you facts (or worse: opinions) you could easily learn on your own. Sometimes they teach you skills that are only applicable in a very narrow area of the human experience.

Programs which teach problem solving and logic will probably position you for a career, even if you are not in a relevant field. Physics is a good example of this, where many graduates feel their degree is worthless, but don't notice how much better prepared they are than others for whatever opportunity life throws their way.

Even if you're a brainlet normie who just wants to graduate into an easy job, I think there is value in challenging yourself. Maybe CS instead of software engineering. Maybe math instead of CS.

I think that's my best shot at offering a soulful answer that still remains practical and easy to accept.

I honestly wish I'd have gone into trades. What I do now (engineering) doesn't differ much except I had to piss away years on a bullshit education.

In principal this should be a fantastic degree involving rigorous reasoning about the stricture of software, but in practice it amounts to "lol, UML, now go do an internship somewhere".

Is as much of a meme as you make it to be. Biotech major here, i quickly branched to less practical stuff (mostly miRNA), because in my country biotech is still mostly though as beer brewing and shit like this
