Consciousness dissipates into nothing when you die. Data is stored physically on the drive when you turn off the computer unless its some kind of RAM or primitive core memory, where the data is stored in the form of magnetized metal rings, if you lose power the data is just gone forever. If you destroy the hard drive the data is just gone forever. Kind of like if you burn something, some waste heat is left and some ash, but the complex molecules that made up the ordered object are gone forever, impossible to be reformed, forever.

You were the consciousness of your dads sexual desire and your moms. Then you got shunted into a fetus. Then you got born and started building a complex brain world model to live inside. Then you live and eventually die
Then your consciousness reduces to the being of the individual cells of your body. Then it gets sucked up into the microbes that decompose your body. Then it eventually makes it back into the world over time as it gets further spread.

This is why killing yourself is a bad idea. You will literally still have experience but in a new way where you are extremely aware of everything that resulted from your death, every tiny consequence.

When we die, our neurons die fairly quickly, unlike data in a hard drive. Those neurons have huge complex connections, so complex that we can't understand them as much as we understand the universe itself, but we know consciousness is there somewhere, and when all those neural connections die the consciousness dies.

Nice strawman. Because those are made up creatures from ancient folk tale stories. Not applicable to the concept of consciousness. If we aren’t conscious, nobody would’ve ever thought of it because consciousness allows the being to self reflect on that part of existance, the fact that they are self aware. We feel conscious therefore we are conscious—in the case of conscousness. Consciousness is REQUIRED for the memetic idea of consciousness to be thought of and debated.

Reality is an infinite, negentropic, holofractal Lorenz system.

Heaven & Hell, forever. You are light. Light never dies.

Heaven is the Sun & “God” is just the collective of all stars, who themselves are each a collective all of their planets harvested, sentient entities of love. This “collective of collectives” co-creates reality for each other. All love.

Every star is a sentient collective. Every star is a heaven unto itself. If you love in this toughest of dimensions, you get harvested into heaven when you die, where you live forever with your family and everything you loved in this life and it is beautiful forever.

The Egyptians called the “as above, so below” phenomenon correspondence. In this density, you can notice correspondences by picking up on what Jung called synchronicities.

Heaven changes and gets better as it orthogonally twists up into higher dimensions forever, outside of time, etc. You traverse the universe as sentient light and who knows what else.

The ankh is a symbol of Horus king of heaven aka the Sun. In an alternate dimension the Sun is actually like the earth... except it radiates love. It is a beautiful place with a constant nostalgic feeling of a hug by God. There are cities and you travel wherever you want to be in the blink of an eye. When going there you literally pass through the mesh of reality. Reality means Re or to constantly repeat, al or all, I meaning all is I, T as in time, and Y which symbolizes equals. The word eye can help to understand this. The to eat are points at which the energy enters combining together into the I or ego/self. Everything we see becomes a part of our selves right? The Sun God Ra literally translates Ra(Sun) Dia(God) T(Cross or time) E(Energy or everything). Also Radius meaning round also means Sun God. Dios or Dia are cognates of the word God and Ra means ray or sun. This is why the Bible say Jesus came to earth from heaven and also why In heiroglyphs they show the ankh descending from heaven (the sun) to earth. These are not fancy ways of explaining the physical but are actually spiritual truth of heaven. Notice that time on earth seems to revolve around Jesus (BC /Before Christ, AD /After Death) BC counting backwards to his death then moving forward. Just as the Earth revolves around the Sun.

If consciousness is just defined as being aware of your existence, death, birth, and impulses(everything), would not you agree that there is some sort of consciousness. Mass and energy are conserved in isolated systems (depends if you consider our universe as isolated or not I guess).
Whatever you are transforms into something else when upon death (die>become organic matter>become bacteria or something, same for energy die>release heat>eventually become something else).
Given enough time I suppose there's a chance (read: almost nonexistent) that all the energy and mass you released upon death finds itself wholly in another organism, which would be the equivalent of the traditional idea of reincarnation.

unless you can demonstrate that empirically and definitively, that's merely your own speculation being presented as "scientific fact". in reality, you can't demonstrate anything to be conscious or unconscious, nor is there any known methodology at this time which can establish such information. the only procedure currently followed is to associate neural activity with consciousness and thereby deem consciousness to cease when the former does, but that's not a valid methodology at all, it doesn't explain any of the details regarding what consciousness is, or how one knows definitely whether something possesses consciousness or not, and how it does so. just a way for proponents of materialism to say "i am right, even though i haven't answered any of the questions this subject entails".

when did scientific enquiry become equivalent to religious dogmatism? i'm not sure, but i think we're now able to clearly observe the difference between true scientists i.e people who want to understand the nature of reality, and use empirical investigation as their primary method of doing so, versus those who just have their own preconceptions of reality, not based on empirical evidence nor philosophically coherent, that they simply want to pass down to others as "truth" just like the local apocalyptic preacher. having your own opinions is fine, pretending they're "true" without any evidence behind them nor rational explanations underlying them (ex. hard problem of consciousness) is not.

let's just wait until the actual institution of science has made progress on this subject before simply declaring our subjective opinions, be them mystic or materialistic, as conclusively answering them. might take decades, but nonetheless that's what a sensible person would do

What you are trying to shit out of your empty head is that you can't "re-save" to it (overwrite it) you elementary school moron, because the data is permanently stored on it and it doesn't lose the data with power loss (magentic loss zeroing the grid) hence why I asked him to begin with. we still don't really understand what consciousness is. I reccomend reading up on Donald Hoffman about possible answers

information in itself though, if defined as non random entropy, is rather well understood. the thing about information is, that it doesn't really exist. it's only an arrangement of things that than gets interpreted as information. you can think about it like a book. the book exists. it consists out of paper with ink on it in specific patterns, but the meaning of the words the book contains is not part of the book itself

all information is like that, even your memories

it doesn't "got" anywhere when its medium desintigrates, because it's not part of its medium to begin with

When you die, the wrapped electromagnetic fields that encompass your consciousness explode outwards at the speed of light like that in a solar flare.
As of the inverse square law, as it spreads further and further out, you lose a cohesive consciousness due to the limits of physics itself.

BUT, there's something 8 minutes away. Something big. Something very electromagnetically active - The Sun.
As soon as you start to get closer and closer, you get pulled in more and more.
More of your consciousness ends up twisted inside of billions of other warped fields.
Congrats, you are Sol now. Along with every other consciously sentient lifeform that has or other will exist around this star.

There is evidence for this in near-death experiences.
In every single case, people point to a bright light in the sky, above the horizon, or a dark, fiery red ball below the horizon.
In every single case, the ones that mentioned bright lights died during the day, and the oens that mentioned hell died at night.
People that were dead for more than 8 minutes and who come back say they felt like they lost something, like a part of them remained "in the afterlife", that coming back felt wrong. (even the "hell" NDEs)
There's no sin to it, it's entirely physics.

I second your statement, without the viewpoint of scientific skepticism, none of our arguments have any hope of being closer to validity.
But consider this, if reality is infinite, if reality is a system in which infinity exists in any part thereof, then by simple logic, you as an entity that experiences, a conscious being, exist in this form and in an infinite variation of forms infinitely.
In a sense, you would be everything, and everything would be you, in every concievable way, always. (Quite similar to Spinozism or the belief system Einstein conceived of for him self, that God is both the garden and the gardener).
This all rests on the assumption that reality is infinite, but think about it, wouldn't it be weird if all of existence was finite? What would that which doesn't exist be? What is nothing really?

This argument could also hold for the simulation hypothesis, which I'm not going to elaborate on.
This conception of infinity was written up properly for the first time by the mathematician Emile Borel, commonly known as the infinite monkey theorem.
