Is it possible to build a stealth spaceship?

>> No.1122144

sure

>> No.1122149

Probably, but why would you want to?

Space is a vacuum so I don't know where you could dump all the heat.

>> No.1122191

>>1122180
Could probably build a large heat accumulator in the spacecraft which you could dump if you were ever in an atmosphere.

Just make sure one side is a helluva lot more insulated than the other and only show the ground your darkened, insulated face so the wasted heat goes away from observers on the earth

Probably not:

why?

>> No.1122294

building a stealth ship would most likely be seen by the rest of the world that the country that build it his harboring "weapons of mass destruction"

>> No.1122311

>>1122262
you have to dissipate heat because entropy's a bitch and the only way you can do it is by radiation, which can be detected very easily with current technology(passive sensors).

So easy that it wouldn't be hard to detect the space shuttle firing it's main engines from Pluto.

>> No.1122326

>>1122240
i forgot how did it eliminate any signs of radiation

>> No.1122396

>>1122326
It's fictional and uses a magic wormhole with a pipes running through it to pump heat away to some humongous radiator at the central fleet or something.

>>1122141
whywouldyoudothat.jpg

also shuttles are stealth when re-entering due to the heating plasma bubble form'd by air friction

it somehow totally absorbs radar frequences

>> No.1122418

>>1122294
>would most likely be seen by the rest of the world
but the point of stealth is not to be seen

>> No.1122431

Not really. You could build a *temporarily* invisible spacecraft by having tanks of liquid nitrogen or some other extremely cold liquid on board, and dumping that through the ship's cooling system and radiators. That would eliminate the ship's IR signature for a time, but once you're out of coolant you're right back into being a gigantic target for IR-guided weapons and IR sensors.

You could potentially build a system which limits the amount of IR radiation put out into space (thermoelectric converters on the radiator/cooling system), and instead convert that radiation into something else, but you'd still have an IR signature.

>> No.1122462

>>1122431
Sure that'd last about a day or so, getting to where you want to attack something TAKES MONTHS in space, you'd need fuck tons of liquid nitrogen!
>>1122408
yet is so bright it can be seen by the naked eye.

>> No.1122470

>>1122431
Herp derp, thermodynamics says using thermoelectrics won't help you:

most missile systems that could hit a low orbit vehicle are most probably to have radar-guidance, not thermal or optical (except maybe the french MICA but... lol French)
