Realistically, what would a space colony look like?
Would it even be profitable to do so with modern technology?

>Realistically, what would a space colony look like?
Depends entirely on where you prop up your colony (Mars, Venus, space habitat, etc.).
>Would it even be profitable to do so with modern technology?
Probably not right now. We'd need to find a way to get to the asteroid belt, as well as the Kuiper belt, faster and cheaper, and create the necessary infrastructure and technology for asteroid mining.

At first it'll probably be something akin to Antarctica research outposts. A place where researchers do work for long periods of time but don't live there permanently.

>Would it even be profitable to do so with modern technology?
Profitable? Absolutely not. The only economics in space that'll work is for economies in space, not for Earth. Since there are no economies in space to exploit, there's really no economic drive into space beyond Earth orbit. Possible? Absolutely, but it'll be motivated by things other than profit.

It’ll look exactly like buildings on earth, fucking square blocks because that’s the easiest and best way to build

Nah, not in the near future. Early space colonies are going to have infrastructure made for whatever type of habitat they're in. Mars colonies are probably going to be built in lava tubes, so they'll be at least partially underground. If we ever get to Venus, we'll probably see inflatable floating cities and shit. We probably won't get to full-fledged buildings until it becomes more viable and cheap to space travel en mass and people figure out how to actually build cities on Mars and/or the moon. That's assuming we won't have, or at least begin to have, O'neill cylinders by then.

If they do, I fucking hope they also forgo a policy of student loan forgiveness.

>Realistically, what would a space colony look like?
There will be lots of surface operations and infrastructure, but people will spend most of their lives underground because of the radiation.
>Would it even be profitable to do so with modern technology?
I made some business models that show it can be done.

You literaly just posted exactly what it would look like.

an actual space colony might look like this, it would be profitable if you got a business model,
