We need to understand how the brain works before we can start augmenting it. It'll happen eventually but by no means soon.
As for privacy that died in late 2001, I feel sorry for those too young to remember what freedom was like.

Or that literal movie frame from the 20s that was literally used in the textbooks I had at school and I only realised was fake after finding some helpful infographics.

This the only consolation prize is that as everyone's data becomes public it will become worth less and less at it can no longer be used to "secure" or "prove" identity. Eventually it will run away to the point where it won't matter that your social security number has been leaked, as yours and everybody else's, including the president of the United States has been sitting in a hackers database waiting to be used. Eventually biometrics will be the only clean data for a while but 23amdme has already started fucking that up. When pundits call this the post truth era they are more correct than they realize. At current trend, in 100 years you won't be able to prove to anyone that you're you. But nobody else will eat ether, privacy will be gone, bit personal information won't be worth anything. If there are no secrets then no advantage can be gained.

Some Americans may have felt uneasy 35 years ago when DUI laws, DWI checkpoints, seatbelt laws, and car liability insurance laws were started, but most people felt that the experts must be right.

Pro-police state shows like "COPS" and "America's Most Wanted" were then aired, neighborhood watch groups were formed, "get tough on crime" candidates were elected, and laws allowing mandatory minimums, IMBRA, 3 strikes laws, curfews, police militarization, teen boot camps, school metal detectors, private prisons, and chain gangs were enacted.

Nanny state smoking laws then started appearing.

When 9/11 happened, the Patriot Act was passed, NSA wiretapping, no knock raids, take down notices, no fly lists, terror watch lists, Constitution free zones, stop and frisk, kill switches, National Security Letters, DNA databases, kill lists, FBAR, FATCA, Operation Chokepoint, TSA groping, civil forfeiture, CIA torture, NDAA indefinite detention, secret FISA courts, FEMA camps, laws requiring passports for domestic travel, IRS laws denying passports for tax debts, gun and ammo stockpiles, laws outlawing protesting, Jade Helm, sneak and peek warrants, policing for profit, no refusal blood checkpoints, license plate readers, redlight cameras, speed cameras, FBI facial and voice recognition, tattoo databases, gun bans, the end to the right to silence, free speech bans, searches without warrants, CISPA, SOPA, private prison quotas, supermax prisons, FOSTA, sex offender registration laws, and sex offender restriction laws were allowed.

Now that the USA is a total police state, Americans are finding out that changing anything is impossible and that freedom is lost forever.

The best solution to stopping this "malarkey" would be major defederalization reforms (states' rights) but that will never happen, not in a million years. Washington alphabet boys would put down everyone wanting to threaten their newfound authority as "insurgents" in their cute little surplus Afganistan War tanks rather than to turn in the toys. I can just hear every single alphabet ex-employer 20 years from now thinking "well, we did everything we believed was right. How could we know the country would no longer exist? We were just fighting some very bad hombres for chrissake."

Use NordVPN to protect your privacy now!

No but seriously, the future of privacy looks pretty bleak depending on the country you live in. UK goes mass surveillance while others wish they could. The best countermeasure might actually be supporting whatever organisation desperately tries to protect privacy.

Also I'm wondering how many would actually fall for human augmentation and get it without thinking or caring about the consequences.

Who says these textbooks are "expensively edited"? Textbooks for any subject contained tonnes of factual errors, especially ones written before the ubiquity of the internet. Do you have a picture of the textbook in question out of interest?

The manipulation surrounding the communist revolutions are even worse. The attached pic was actually included in a history exam. Why do they want kids to believe the tsar was overthrown by giant robots? Very concerning.

Reminder that people who hang out on chans talking about how the manipulation of history surrounding nazis is concerning have an agenda. Some of them are what this gentleman claims to be - slightly confused about the facts. These people are marks. Others are neo-nazis deliberately presenting the most watered down and selective version of their ideology possible, to appeal to normies. Their goal is to gradually inculcate you with more and more extreme beliefs while also gradually isolating you from outside sources of information, until like a frog in a boiling pot you are a neo-nazi who only trusts information from other neo-nazis. Standard cult tactics.

If you don't get the augmentation, you're at a huge disadvantage. If you do, well, you're forced to experience all the negative consequences of that technology. Lose-lose.
