Has anyone ever made a case for how Plasma isn't really a distinct phase of matter? That it is merely ionized gas, and nothing more special than that?

I know this is a shitpost. BUT you kinda have a point. Phases are defined in a sorta arbitrary manner. Is the electron cloud in metals a different phase than a ceramic? Sort of. Are half-ionized solutions still plasma? Are ionic liquids plasma? Is glass a solid?

The reason plasma is a phase is because there's shitloads of it in the universe.

How? They’re both electron clouds. Just because you have solid water and solid ammonia it doesn’t change the fact that they’re both solids. States of matter describe the state of the matter, ie the atoms of any element.
Are half-ionized solutions still plasma?
The parts that are ionized are, the parts that aren’t aren’t.
Are ionic liquids plasma?
Like is dissociated salt in water a plasma? No. The definition of a plasma is more nuanced than just any ionized form.
Is glass a solid?
Are you referring to the glass is just a slow moving liquid myth?

That’s not true

Water is H20 and Ice is 2H0O2
Ice is less dense

No. Learn some basic chemistry.
